As the name itself suggests, tensile canopy structures are much like canopy of trees meant to provide us cover. Just as not every tree canopy is identical, so are not every tensile canopies. While their construction is similar to any other tensile structure their designs of course vary widely. Here is a small rundown to the different types of canopy structure – Lone pole tent canopy – supported by a lone pole secured by anchorages, they look like an extended umbrella, only their much bigger.
Gazebo marquee – they are much larger and are usually supported on all fours. They can be used as big four cornered tent or as a house depending on their design.
Glider canopy – usually seen at stadiums over the stands, they are supported by a cantilever having a linear edge. In appearance they look like stretched wings of birds hence the name glider.
