Tensile Structure in Surat

Surat runs on the textile and man-made-fibre industry (weaving, processing, embroidery), the diamond-cutting and polishing trade that dominates the world's rough-diamond work, the heavy industry at Hazira (steel, gas, petrochemicals), the Sachin and Pandesara GIDC estates, and the commercial and event sector of a city growing as fast as any in the country.

The tensile demand is largely industrial — large covered spans over process and storage areas, warehouse and loading cover, covered yards — with a commercial and event thread alongside it. The south-Gujarat monsoon is heavy, and the coast means salt.

Ekra Decor has not yet completed a documented project in Surat itself. Its nearest recorded work in Gujarat is about 28,500 sq ft of single-span industrial tensile roof at Valsad, roughly 90 km down the coast — built to the same heavy-monsoon and coastal specification a Surat project needs. On the south Gujarat coast the steel specification matters as much as the fabric: hot-dip galvanising plus paint or duplex coating, and stainless cables and fittings where exposed. Full comparison on the membrane materials page.

• Site survey & soil investigation — coastal and alluvial soils vary, so the foundation type comes from the site's own investigation to IS 456.
• Drainage — steep falls, oversized valley and eaves gutters and a designed overflow route for the heavy south-Gujarat monsoon.
• Wind — uplift is taken to the coastal, cyclone-fringe design figure under IS 875 Part 3.
• Corrosion protection — a full coastal package: galvanised and coated steel, stainless fittings, and a fluoropolymer membrane.
• Long single spans & main-contractor working — a large continuous roof needs the primary steel and membrane both sized for the span; Ekra Decor works directly or, as at Valsad, as the tensile-roofing specialist within a main contractor's programme.
