Why a tensile structure in Manesar
Manesar, with IMT Manesar, is one of the most concentrated automotive-manufacturing zones in the country — Maruti Suzuki and Honda plants, a dense field of tier-1 and tier-2 component suppliers, plus warehousing, the hotel and resort strip along NH-48, and fast-growing commercial and residential development at New Gurugram's edge.
Ekra Decor has three documented projects in the Manesar area: a cantilevered car-parking tensile canopy at an industrial facility; a 600 m² tensile structure for Minda Gentex Ltd. at IMT Manesar (about 30 days); and about 2,250 m² of tensioned-fabric cover for an ITC resort near Manesar (about 40 days).
Manesar is inside the NCR delivery radius from the Delhi base. Steel and membrane are fabricated at the workshop and shipped; the same in-house team installs. For the full technical background, see the tensile structure guide.
How the local climate shapes the design
Manesar shares the Delhi NCR climate — extreme summers, dust, monsoon bursts and winter fog. This is general climate information for the area; the wind, rain and snow values used in a structural design come from the site survey and the applicable codes, not from a page like this.
Extreme summer heat
April to June push into the mid-40s °C with the hot, dust-laden loo wind. A light-toned membrane that reflects solar heat and an open, well-ventilated form keep the space usable.
Dust storms & winter air pollution
Pre-monsoon dust storms and the well-documented winter smog (October to February) soil a plain PVC lacquer over time. A PVDF-finished membrane resists dirt pick-up and largely self-cleans in rain.
Monsoon in heavy bursts
The July to September rain arrives in short, intense spells. The roof is given steep positive falls and generously sized gutters and outlets, with an overflow route so a blocked outlet cannot pond the membrane.
Dense winter fog
December and January bring dense fog and cold nights but no snow. The large swing between summer and winter is designed into the connections so the fabric never slackens.
Gusty pre-monsoon & storm winds
Wind uplift — the governing load on any light roof — is assessed for the specific site under IS 875 Part 3, including the local acceleration between tall buildings.
Firm alluvial ground
The Indo-Gangetic alluvium under the region is generally good to found on; isolated footings to IS 456 are sized against uplift and overturning rather than gravity.
Tensile structures that make sense in Manesar
Weighted heavily toward automotive-plant and parking demand.
Covered car parking
Column-free cantilever shades over the very large staff and finished-vehicle car parks of the automotive plants — as built at a Manesar facility. Car parking tensile shades →
Two-wheeler parking sheds
Barrel-vault sheds over the large two-wheeler parking areas at IMT plants. Two-wheeler parking sheds →
Plant working-area & yard cover
Covered dispatch, staging and working zones for the assembly and component plants — as built for Minda Gentex. Industrial canopies →
Warehouse & logistics canopies
Loading canopies and covered docks for the IMT and NH-48 logistics belt. Fabric buildings →
Resort & hospitality amenities
Poolside canopies, event lawns and dining-area cover for the NH-48 resort strip — as built for the ITC resort near Manesar. Custom fabric structures →
Gatehouse & weighbridge canopies
Compact canopies over plant entrances, security check-points and weighbridges. Tensile canopy structures →
Membrane choice for the local climate
The NCR dust and smog favour a PVDF finish that largely self-cleans between washes.
PVDF-lacquered PVC
The PVDF top-coat resists dust and UV and largely self-cleans in rain — the sensible default for this climate. PVDF fabric →
PVC-coated polyester
For a short-life, sheltered or budget structure, with more regular cleaning. PVC fabric →
PTFE-coated glass
Chemically inert and near self-cleaning — for a permanent or civic structure, or where a non-combustible fire class applies. PTFE fabric →
Inland and non-coastal — standard hot-dip galvanising is adequate for the steel. Full comparison on the membrane materials page.
Engineering for local conditions
Points that come up on a Manesar project. No structural values are quoted here.
- Site survey & soil investigation — the firm Indo-Gangetic alluvium is generally good to found on; the cantilever foundation is sized against overturning to IS 456.
- Wind — the plot's exposure is assessed under IS 875 Part 3; a cantilever car-park canopy has uplift and overturning as the governing cases.
- Drainage — steep positive falls and generously sized gutters and outlets for the NCR monsoon's heavy bursts, with a designed overflow route; car-park canopies carry the water down concealed in the columns.
- Repeating engineered bay — large plant car parks and yard roofs are built from a repeating module, which keeps a big area buildable and the programme predictable.
- Working around a live plant — the work is sequenced and phased so plant operations, shift traffic and vehicle movement keep going.
- Corrosion protection — the steel is hot-dip galvanised; the coating class is set by the local air.
- Thermal movement — the seasonal temperature swing is designed into the connections so the membrane never slackens.
- Off-site fabrication — steel and membrane are cut and made at the workshop and shipped, so the on-site work is assembly and tensioning.

- Key featureA single-sided cantilever that keeps the parking bays and drive aisle completely clear of columns, with the monsoon water carried down inside the support columns, engineered against uplift and overturning
How Ekra Decor covers Manesar
For Manesar, Ekra Decor's service area is IMT Manesar, the Maruti and Honda plant zones, Sector 8–10 IMT, the NH-48 corridor and New Gurugram's edge — served from the Delhi NCR base within the delivery radius. The same in-house team surveys and installs on site.
No local office, factory, warehouse or team. Ekra Decor works across India from a single Delhi NCR design, fabrication and installation base — the same in-house team surveys, engineers, fabricates and installs every project, Manesar included.

Genuine membranes
Traceable architectural fabric from established manufacturers — Serge Ferrari, Mehler, Heytex — with test certificates supplied.
What drives the cost of a tensile structure in Manesar
The same factors apply everywhere; the mix changes with the project and the site.
There is no meaningful fixed rate per square foot — two structures of the same area can differ by a wide margin. Distance and site access affect the logistics line, but there is no flat “Manesar premium”. Send your requirement for a design direction and an itemised quote; the tensile structure cost guide sets out every factor.
Tensile structures in Manesar FAQ
Questions specific to tensile structure projects in Manesar and IMT Manesar.
Yes — three documented projects in the area: a cantilever car-parking canopy at an industrial facility, a 600 m² plant canopy for Minda Gentex at IMT Manesar, and a 2,250 m² resort amenity near Manesar. All delivered from the Delhi NCR base by the in-house team.
Yes — the three above, covering industrial parking, an automotive-plant canopy and a hospitality amenity.
No — there is no local office or team. Manesar is served from the Delhi NCR base, within the delivery radius.
The roof is carried on a single line of columns down one side, cantilevering over the bays and the drive aisle, so nothing obstructs the parking. The monsoon water runs down concealed inside those columns. The foundation is sized against overturning.
Yes — large car parks and yard roofs are built from a repeating engineered bay, which keeps a big area buildable and the programme predictable, and the work is phased around plant operations and shift traffic.
PVDF-lacquered PVC is the usual choice — it resists the NCR dust and smog and largely self-cleans. PVC for a budget back-of-house canopy; PTFE-glass for a permanent architectural structure.
There is no fixed rate per square foot. Cost depends on the area, span, form, steel, membrane and site conditions. Being inside the NCR radius keeps the logistics line short. Send your requirement for an itemised quote.
