A radial tensile membrane canopy engineered to bring daylight into a live retail atrium without a single obstructing column.
Project Overview
Ekra Decor’s archive photographs show a tensioned fabric roof over the central atrium of Vasant Square, an operating shopping mall in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, on Mehrauli–Mahipalpur Road.
The canopy spans the court on radiating steel ribs beneath a tensioned membrane, visible above four levels of retail frontage in the photographs — Bata, Mochi, Peter England, Pantaloons, Big Bazaar and a Bagrry’s café unit are all identifiable on the signage, placing the installation directly above active retail space rather than a service or back-of-house area.
Vasant Square is independently documented as having a roughly 25,000 sq ft (≈2,300 m²) central atrium with shopfronts facing onto it — close to the smaller of the two area figures in Ekra Decor’s own project records, which is why both are shown in the project information below rather than a single rounded-off number.

How This Project Was Delivered
Ekra Decor is a turnkey manufacturer — the same team carries a project from first sketch to final tensioning.
Membrane geometry is developed in form-finding software so the fabric is correctly pre-stressed in double curvature.
Steel frame, cables and foundations are engineered for the span, wind and loading conditions of the site.
Steel is fabricated and hot-dip galvanised or epoxy coated; the membrane is patterned and welded in-house.
The frame is erected and the membrane tensioned on site by our own installation crews, then handed over.
