Tensile Structures on Video

16 short clips — completed projects, fabrication and installation on site, retractable roofs in motion, and the roof types that are hard to judge from a photograph. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.

Projects

Completed work from Ekra Decor's own archive.

Hazratbal Dargah, Srinagar — under snowEkra Decor's 2,600 m² courtyard shade at Hazratbal Dargah, with the canopies and the courtyard under snow. Snow sits still where wind does not, which is why the geometry in Jammu & Kashmir is steeper than it would be in Goa.
Inside a finished auditoriumA tensioned membrane ceiling over a full auditorium — radial ribs, a barrel-vault surface and the diffused light a fabric roof gives an interior.

Fabrication & Installation

What the work actually looks like before the roof is finished.

Raising the steelEkra Decor's own crew aligning a curved arch member against the purlin grid.
Inside a barrel-vault canopyA scissor lift under a completed barrel vault, with the truss and membrane bays visible from below.
Membrane going on to steelThe stage where the fabric meets the frame — the connection detail that decides whether a roof stays taut.
A long walkway canopyContinuous covered walkway, seen along its length. Long thin roofs are the hardest shape to keep stable in wind.

Retractable Roofs

Membrane roofs that open. Stills cannot show the thing that matters most — whether the fabric stays taut through the whole travel.

Barrel-vault bays retractingMulti-bay membrane roof running open along its rails.
A pleated roof gathering openThe fabric folds into a concertina as the bays draw back.
Stacked in the parked positionFully retracted, the bays nest at one end. That stack length is part of the design.
A yard under a retractable coverA working yard roofed so it can be opened again — the usual reason a client wants movement rather than a fixed roof.
Spanning between two buildingsA retractable roof closing the gap between existing blocks, which is where the fixing detail gets difficult.
Over sports courtsCourts covered so they stay playable in rain and heat, with the roof still able to open.
From above, half openAn aerial view mid-travel, which shows the bay geometry more clearly than any ground shot.

ETFE

Inflated film cushions rather than tensioned fabric.

An ETFE cushion roofAir-inflated film panels carried in a gridded frame — the lightest roof type on this site.

Louvre Systems

Aluminium louvre roofs, included because clients comparing options want to see both.
