Naming them is useful — you will see these in search results and on sourcing portals, and it is worth knowing the list is longer than thirteen. Describing them from a directory row would not be. A directory entry is written by the seller, carries no date, and is frequently years out of date.
If you are shortlisting any of them, ask for the same things you would ask us for: the structural calculations, the membrane specification with its coating and finish, a sample weld, and two sites you can visit that have been standing through at least two monsoons.
Six questions that separate the shortlist
A ranking is a starting point. These are what settle it.
Does it engineer, or only fabricate?
A tensile roof is sized from loads taken for your site under IS 875 Part 3 and IS 1893, then form-found, then patterned. A firm that only cuts and welds fabric to someone else’s drawing is a fabricator, not a manufacturer, and the distinction decides who is liable when the roof ponds.
Welded seams or stitched?
A high-frequency weld fuses the coating of both panels into one material. A stitched seam makes a line of holes through the waterproofing and relies on thread to stay sound in sunlight. It is the clearest single difference between a membrane still tight in fifteen years and one that is not.
Which membrane, and why that one?
PVC, PVDF, PTFE and ETFE are not interchangeable. A supplier who proposes the same fabric for a school courtyard in Delhi and a coastal jetty at Diu is quoting stock, not specifying. See our materials guide.
Is the quotation itemised?
Membrane, steel, cables, fittings, foundations, erection and tensioning are separate costs. A single lump sum hides where the money is, and it is usually hiding the steel.
Who installs it?
Tensioning sequence decides whether the finished surface is evenly stressed or has slack pockets in it, and slack is what flutters, ponds and wears. Ask whether the crew is the manufacturer’s own.
What is actually warranted, and for how long?
Separate the structure, the membrane and the workmanship. A single headline number covering all three usually means none of them.

Loads come from the code for your site rather than a standard assumption; the shape is found by analysis before any steel is sized; panels are cut on a CNC table with compensation for fabric stretch; and seams are high-frequency welded. What people ask before committing to a supplier or a form.
There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one is selling. The right manufacturer depends on span, site, membrane type and whether the structure is permanent or demountable. A firm that is excellent at modular resort tents may be the wrong choice for a 20,000 sq ft fixed roof, and the reverse is equally true.

Because the company does not state one on its website. We would rather print that than guess, and a missing date is itself worth knowing when you are assessing how long a firm has been trading.
A fabric supplier sells coated membrane by the roll. A manufacturer engineers the structure, patterns and welds the membrane, fabricates the steel, and installs and tensions it on site. Lucky-Tech is on this list as a supplier specifically to show the difference, because lists of this kind usually mix the two.
Far more than twenty. The market runs from a handful of firms doing engineered, code-compliant architecture down to local fabricators stitching tarpaulin over tube. The number is not the useful question; whether a given supplier engineers what it sells is.
It helps for survey and maintenance, but it is not decisive. Tensile work is fabricated in a workshop and installed by a travelling crew, so a Delhi firm builds in Guwahati routinely. What matters more is whether they have built in your wind zone and your climate. See our projects by location.
ISO 9001 is a quality management system, audited by a third party, and is the common baseline. It is not a structural certification: the structure itself should be designed against IS 875 and IS 1893. Note how few firms publish any certification at all.
